Inspect your harness thoroughly before each use. Additionally, conduct a formal documented inspection at least every 6 months (or more frequently in harsh environments). Check all webbing for cuts, frays, or chemical damage; examine hardware for cracks, deformation, or corrosion; and ensure all stitching is intact. If your harness has been involved in a fall, remove it from service immediately regardless of its appearance.
TT TRSMIMA harnesses have a maximum service life of 5 years from date of first use, or 8 years from date of manufacture, whichever comes first. However, this is contingent on passing all inspection criteria. Factors that can reduce lifespan include: exposure to chemicals, excessive UV radiation, fall arrest events, improper storage, and frequency of use. Always follow the specific product documentation for your model.
Yes, all TT TRSMIMA safety harnesses are designed, tested, and manufactured to meet or exceed OSHA requirements (29 CFR 1926.502) as well as ANSI Z359.11 standards for personal fall arrest systems. Each harness undergoes rigorous testing and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance and is accompanied by documentation certifying this compliance.
Store your harness in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and chemicals. Hang it by the dorsal D-ring or store loosely in a breathable bag to prevent crushing, creasing, or unnecessary stress on the webbing and hardware. Never store a harness while damp or dirty, and keep it away from sharp objects that could damage the webbing.
Standard TT TRSMIMA harnesses are rated for users weighing 130-310 lbs (59-140 kg), including tools and equipment. We also offer specialized models for users outside this range. Using a harness outside its rated capacity significantly compromises safety and violates compliance regulations. Always check the specific rating on your model’s label and documentation.
Clean your harness with mild soap and lukewarm water, then rinse thoroughly. Allow to air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. Never use bleach, harsh detergents, or chemical cleaners as these can degrade the webbing strength. Do not machine wash or dry. For stubborn stains, use a soft brush. Always inspect thoroughly after cleaning before returning to service.
Users must receive comprehensive training from a qualified person before using any fall protection equipment. Training should include: hazard recognition, equipment selection, proper donning and adjustment, attachment methods, inspection procedures, maintenance requirements, and fall rescue planning. OSHA requires this training to be documented and refresher training provided regularly.
While TT TRSMIMA harnesses can technically connect with standard-compliant components from other manufacturers, we strongly recommend using our complete systems for guaranteed compatibility. When mixing components, a competent person must verify compatibility of connectors, sizing, and strength ratings. Improper combinations can result in rollout, unintended disconnection, or component failure.
Our premium harnesses feature additional padding for extended comfort, quick-connect buckles for faster donning and doffing, integrated trauma straps to prevent suspension trauma, additional attachment points for various work positioning needs, and weather-resistant webbing treatments. Basic models meet all safety requirements but have standard buckles and fewer comfort features while maintaining the same high safety standards.
A properly fitted harness should be snug but not restrictive. You should be able to slide a flat hand between the strap and your body, but not make a fist. The chest strap should sit at mid-chest level, and the dorsal D-ring should be positioned between your shoulder blades. Leg straps must be securely fastened with no twists in the webbing. After donning, perform the “jump test” – jump slightly to ensure the harness settles properly without excessive movement.
